Solid Color Porcelain Stoneware: The Purity of Absolute Color
Solid color porcelain stoneware represents the essence of minimalism and is the preferred choice for those who conceive architecture as a play of volumes and pure hues. Far from imitations of natural materials, this covering reclaims its ceramic identity through homogeneous surfaces, devoid of invasive graphics.
Monochromatic tiles are the ideal solution for contemporary design projects, commercial spaces, and modern homes. Choosing a full-color floor means dressing environments with a uniform "skin" that expands the perception of space and conveys a sensation of order, cleanliness, and aesthetic rigor found in no other finish.
Why prefer solid colors over other effects?
In a market dominated by wood, marble, concrete, or stone, why gravitate towards a solid color surface? The answer lies in scenographic neutrality. While a wood or marble-effect tile strongly characterizes the environment, imposing a precise style (rustic, classic, or luxurious), colored stoneware acts as a silent white (or colored) canvas.
This characteristic offers a fundamental strategic advantage: letting the furnishings take center stage. A uniform floor enhances the design of furniture, rugs, and accessories without visually competing with them. Furthermore, the absence of veins and knots eliminates "visual noise," creating relaxing and visually larger environments, perfect for those seeking an essential or color-block style.
How to choose color and finish?
The choice of shade in ceramics is crucial, as color becomes the sole dominant element. The decision must be based on light and intended use:
- Light tones (white, ivory, ice gray): These are the most common because they maximize natural brightness and optically expand small spaces. They are perfect for windowless bathrooms or living areas with little exposure.
- Dark tones (black, anthracite, midnight blue): These confer elegance, depth, and a masculine touch to the environment. They are ideal for shops, professional studios, or large living rooms, but require excellent artificial lighting.
- Bright and pastel colors: The market today offers chromatic scales (sage greens, antique rose, powder blue) ideal for creating creative bathrooms or accent walls in the kitchen.
- Finish: The glossy finish reflects light and makes the color vibrant, while the matte finish absorbs light, offering a softer, silkier, and more contemporary look, as well as being more practical against fingerprints.
Price of solid color stoneware
The cost of solid color slabs is highly varied and depends on production technology. Contrary to popular belief, a good solid color can cost more than a wood effect, especially if it is "full-body" technical stoneware (where the color runs through the entire thickness of the tile) or large rectified formats.
For basic products, in standard formats like 30x30 or 20x20 often used in commercial building, deals can be found around 10-20 euros per sqm.
For modern rectified tiles in large formats (60x60, 80x80) and trendy colors, the average expense is between 25 and 45 euros per sqm.
If moving towards designer slabs, unique colors, or high-performance technical stoneware, the estimate can rise above 50-60 euros per sqm, justified by impeccable glazing and extreme resistance.
